What PassPath JP is

PassPath JP is a study and planning companion for converting a foreign driver’s licence in Japan (gaimen kirikae): the knowledge test, the driving skills check and the steps around them. It is independent: it is not an official test and is not run by or connected to the National Police Agency, any prefectural police, JAF or any other official body. Rules, fees and test days change — always check the official sources before you book or pay.

Important notice

PassPath JP provides education and guidance about converting a foreign driver’s licence in Japan. It is not connected to the National Police Agency, any prefectural police, JAF or any other official body. The information is general guidance, not official or legal advice. Requirements and procedures change and differ between prefectures: before any important step, check with the driver’s licence centre of your prefectural police. Official information always takes priority. In short: PassPath JP guides you; the official bodies set the rules and requirements.

Our statements

Every statement and explanation is written by us from Japanese law — mainly the Road Traffic Act, its Enforcement Order and Regulations, and the National Police Agency’s official guide to traffic methods (交通の方法に関する教則). They are not copied from any official question bank, test paper or textbook. You may use them for your own study; please do not copy, publish or resell them.

Sources and credits

Our sources are Japanese laws and official notices as published on e-Gov and by the National Police Agency, and the conversion pages of prefectural police. Under Article 13 of Japan’s Copyright Act, laws and official notices are not protected by copyright; we still do not reproduce their text — we explain the rules in our own words. Road sign images come from Wikimedia Commons and are in the public domain. Photos come from Wikimedia Commons contributors; their names and licences are listed in the app under Help.

Subscriptions

PassPath JP is offered as an auto-renewing subscription (weekly, monthly or every 3 months). New subscribers may get a lower price for the first period; after that the standard price shown in the store applies. Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you can manage and cancel it in your Apple or Google account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their rules. Each country in PassPath is a separate subscription.

Community

If you post in Community you agree to the Community rules. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users: we remove posts and suspend accounts that break the rules.

Accuracy and responsibility

PassPath JP is a study aid. It is not legal advice and not an official source. We write it from Japanese law and review it regularly, but we cannot guarantee that every question, fee, date or figure is complete, correct or up to date. Always check with the driver’s licence centre of your prefectural police before you book, pay or act. You are responsible for how you drive and for meeting every legal requirement.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect loss caused by errors or omissions — for example a missed appointment or a test you have to retake — and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for PassPath JP in the 12 months before your claim. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Japan’s Consumer Contract Act or other consumer protection law that cannot be excluded, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

If you find a mistake, please tell us using the contact below and we will correct it.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of Ireland, where PassPath JP is made, without taking away the protection of Japan’s consumer protection law. Questions: karakusufuk@gmail.com. On iPhone, Apple's standard licence agreement (EULA) also applies.
